Hello everyone. Do you know of the 10-step korean skincare routine? Well, I didn't use to. Apparently it's a long care routine that you do every day for healthier skin. I will write about that one in a later entry. In the 10-step program you have to use a facial mask 2 times a week. Therefore, i began to look for face masks, and I stumbled upon the Alphabet series from Etude House. Every mask has a letter which represents a different core ingredient. The masks also have different purposes so look carefully when buying one (or in my case buying five).
I bought the masks at Eyecandys.com which is a website that mainly focuses on colored lenses, but they have a beauty section where they sell makeup, skincare and much more. The makeup brands they mostly sell are Etude House and 3CE, but there are other brands and more coming.
They have a special offer where you get a lower price when purchasing a certain number of masks. You get a cheaper price when buying 5, 10 or 15 masks. This was just a test buy so I got 5. 1 for my mom, 2 for my sister and 2 for me.
The package (or rather the letter) arrived fairly fast. In about a week or so. You guys have to see the package!
I mean look at it! Not only is the store and products cute, the packaging is also cute. I almost get hypnotized by the color. Sooo shiny~
The inside of the envelope is covered in bubblewrap, so even small and fragile products are properly protected.
(Sorry for the bad lightning)
These are the masks that I ordered. I tried to diversify it a little so I got masks with different functions. Bulgarian Rose and Mango is for my sister and Fig is for my mom. Today I will be reviewing the Yoghurt Strawberry and Pomegranate variants.
(Bad lightning again)
I chose 2 different masks on purpose because I wanted to see the different effects they might have. The Yoghurt Strawberry is for Soft & Moist and the Pomegranate is for Smooth Elasticity. The design on the packaging is so cute and yummy. I can't wait to smell these! They're certainly not bad to look at. Now to try them:
An instant smell of the products hit you when you open the bag where the sheet is. The yoghurt one smells like a yoghurt/cream combination and the pomegranate smells like very pure pomegranate.
The sheet is folded when you take it out and also ENVELOPED in cream. Make sure it doesn't get smothered everywhere when you fold out the mask. I don't know if there's a certain side you have to put on your face but it doesn't seem like it. The mask itself is made of bamboo, so it feels extremely soft when you hold it.
You have to wear the mask for 15-20 minutes. This is NOT a mask that you remove when it dries out cause it will NOT dry out. I did not know that when I tried the Yoghurt mask so I left it on for, like, 45 minutes. You're supposed to take it off after those 15-20 minutes and massage the cream into you skin.
The mask is really nice to wear as it has a slight cooling effect (maybe because it's winter). I haven't tried one of these in the summer. It feels like a normal facial cream when you rub it in. It may be hard though since your skin stays sticky for some time afterwards. If you wear glasses, like I do, you might want to wait with wearing them for some time afterwards.
I don't know about the elasticity part since I do not have any wrinkles or bags under my eyes, but my face gets really moisturized no matter what mask I use. The day after, my skin is really soft and not dry at all. These masks are made to be used often. If you know and follow the korean 10-step skin care routine, then you know that you have to use a facial mask 2 times a week.
Pros:
-Moisturizing
-Cheap
-Makes your skin really soft
-Made of environmentally friendly materials (bamboo)
Cons:
-Really sticky (even after you massaged the cream in)
Etude House Alphabet Masks:
If you guys want to buy these masks you can get them here. I don't think that Etude House really produces them anymore, but they've made a new series of masks named "I need you mask" that are a renewed version of the alphabet masks which you can buy here.
See you the next time ヘ(^_^ヘ)
